The first quarter of the new decade was a relatively quiet one for the Cambridge office market. Both availability and vacancy saw a slight increase, jumping to 7.8%, and 4.1% respectively. Absorption was slightly negative, mostly due to new space that became available in West
Cambridge. 

Demand for lab space in Cambridge has continued unrelentingly over the last several years and the first quarter of 2020 was no different. Requirements represent almost twice the available square footage, and nearly five times the vacant square footage in Cambridge.
